Import your Goodreads or StoryGraph library
Moving your reading history over takes about a minute. You export a file from the site you use now, then drop it into Conquest of Pages. Your old account is not touched.
If you use Goodreads
- Open your library. On goodreads.com, go to My Books.
- Find the export. In the left-hand sidebar under Tools, choose Import and export.
- Export Library. Click Export Library. Goodreads prepares the file; when it is ready a download link appears (it can take a few minutes for a big library). Download the
.csvfile.
If you use The StoryGraph
- Open your account. On thestorygraph.com, go to Manage Account.
- Manage Your Data. Choose Manage Your Data.
- Export StoryGraph Library. Click Export StoryGraph Library and download the CSV it gives you.
Any other tool that can export a CSV with Title and Author columns works too.
Then, in Conquest of Pages
- Open the app and choose Settings in the left-hand menu.
- Under Import from Goodreads or StoryGraph, choose your file (or drop it onto the box).
- Leave Look up covers, page counts and genres ticked (it takes about a minute per hundred books), check the summary of how many books are new, and click Import.
What comes across
- Titles and authors, page counts, and your star ratings. If a book has several authors, the first is the one the book is planted for.
- Shelves: your read, currently-reading, to-read and did-not-finish shelves become the matching status; other shelves you made become tags (up to eight per book).
- Dates you started, finished and added a book, so your yearly stats and streaks reflect when you really read.
- Reviews and private notes become the book's notes.
- Covers, missing page counts and genres are looked up from Open Library as the books are added.
Where do the authors go?
After the books are in, the app looks up each author's birthplace in the background and plants your forests as they are found — you can watch the globe fill in. Authors it cannot place are listed in Settings, where you can pick a place by hand. Books are only counted once you have read some of them: your to-read pile waits on the shelf until you start.
Questions
Does this change my Goodreads or StoryGraph account?
No. The import reads a file you downloaded. Nothing is sent back, and nothing is deleted.
Will it stay in sync with Goodreads?
No — it is a one-time import. If you keep using Goodreads, export again later; books you already imported are recognised by title and author and skipped.
Where is my library kept?
In your browser, on your device. Download a backup from Settings once you have imported, so a cleared browser cannot take your history with it.
